The Horse Wisdom Program Offers 7 Sessions Focused on

Calm State

Noticing when you are becoming activated and how to regulate your nervous system using simple methods.

Awareness

Awareness of Self, including thoughts, feelings and sensations. Awareness of others and awareness of the environment. How to become present and grounded. Noticing body language.

Boundaries

Understanding and becoming respectful of personal space, touch, and verbal boundaries and how to communicate these effectively.

Thoughts

Becoming aware of self-talk, beliefs and where they come from. How thoughts affect your energy, body language and actions. Noticing helpful or unhelpful thinking.

Feelings

Understanding that feelings are information and that all feelings are welcome, but we can choose how to express them in a healthy manner. By being aware of the early sensations in the body you can act earlier.

Relationship

Understanding how to engage in and develop healthy relationships. Noticing and understanding the importance of give and take in relationships and how to work through conflict in a healthy way.

Challenges of life

How to deal with the challenges life throws at us..

The Horse Wisdom program offers participants the chance to interact with horses to focus on important life skills. It addresses social and emotional issues to help with regulation and awareness so individuals can respond with choice and understanding.

Horse Wisdom is a 7 week program for both individuals and small groups. Each session lasts for between 60 – 90 minutes and can be worked around group requirements.

People of all ages and backgrounds can benefit from this program, including school groups.

Why Horses?

Horses are intelligent, sensitive and strong beings who can evoke strong feelings in clients by engaging them in the learning process. Horses can assist in co-regulating a client’s nervous system, can model healthy living and expression of feelings, as well as offering non judgemental safety and trust. Horses can offer unique bio feedback and hold clients in a way traditional learning environments cannot. The natural environment can also contribute positively to learning outcomes for clients.
